Florida Atlantic made a statement in its 2024–25 season home opener, rolling past Coastal Georgia with a commanding 99–49 victory at Abessinio Court inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
The Owls (2–0) lit up the scoreboard from deep, hitting 16 three-pointers and showing off a balanced attack that Coastal Georgia (0–1) couldn’t contain. Senior guard Ken Evans led the way with 18 points, all coming from behind the arc, and added four steals to fuel FAU’s transition game. Freshman Kaleb Glenn delivered an efficient performance, finishing with 18 points of his own on 7-of-10 shooting, including three triples.
FAU’s depth proved decisive, with ten different players contributing at least two points and the bench pouring in 50 overall. Transfer forward Tre Carroll chipped in 14 points and nine rebounds, while Niccolò Moretti dished out eight assists to keep the Owls’ offense humming.
On the defensive end, FAU forced 24 turnovers and turned them into 30 points, while also dominating the glass with a 53–27 rebounding edge. Coastal Georgia’s lone bright spot came from guard Amaru Grosvenor, who scored 12 points off the bench, but the Mariners never led after the early minutes.

By halftime, FAU had already built a 51–20 advantage, using stifling defense and blistering pace to put the game out of reach. The Owls pushed the tempo relentlessly, tallying 40 fast-break points to Coastal Georgia’s six.
The win keeps FAU perfect through two games as they continue to sharpen their identity under the spotlight of preseason hype. The Owls will look to carry the momentum into their next non-conference test, while Coastal Georgia heads back to regroup after running into one of the nation’s toughest mid-major programs.
Final Score: Florida Atlantic 99, Coastal Georgia 49
